SwissLegal Autumn Meeting 2023

Autumn meeting 2023

Mauro Lardi opened the conference and emphasized in his welcoming speech the values as well as the importance of the SwissLegal network and stressed that this network not only offers professional and personnel opportunities for the individual offices, but ultimately also generates qualitative added value for the clientele. And, following Aristotle, he concluded his remarks with the statement that the SwissLegal network is more than the sum of its parts.

After the introductory words of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, he handed over to Heinrich Spühler, who in his function as Managing Director was able to lead through a SwissLegal meeting for the 10th time. As usual, the first part of the meeting focused on current projects, the development of the network, and the group's medium- and long-term goals. In this information block, those present were informed, among other things, about the status of the implementation of the new (revised) Data Protection Act ("nDSG"), about protective measures taken and planned in the fight against potential cyber attacks, as well as about the status of other projects that SwissLegal has taken on or will take on in the future.

In the second part of the meeting, the focus was on professional exchange. Advocate Martin Frey kicked off with an "Introduction to the new DPA", in which he focused less on the legal changes and more on the potential effects (documentation requirements, deadlines, etc.), demarcation issues and challenges that both affected companies and consultants may face in practice. Afterwards, the participants had the opportunity to actively exchange ideas on selected topics in workshops.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Martin Frey ("Introduction to the Data Protection Act") as well as the workshop leaders Dr. Christian Ulrich ("Talent Acquisition"), Clarissa Indemini and Alban Matthey ("Litigation Costs and Litigation Funding"), Nathalie Urban and Stefan Schwaller ("Developments in Tax Law") as well as Dr. Carole Gehrer and Manuel Frick ("Mandate Acceptance Process & Advance on Costs") for their preparation and interesting presentations, which contributed significantly to the success of the conference.

The latest addition to the international SwissLegal network can also be considered a great success: It concerns the accession of the Dornbirn law firm TWP Rechtsanwälte as SwissLegal Preferred Partner for Austria. The three-man delegation consisting of Dr. Alexander Wittwer, Mag. Lukas Pfefferkorn and Dr. Gregor Lässer was warmly welcomed by the applause of the attendees and took the opportunity to introduce themselves personally as well as their law firm in general, their range of services and their market orientation and positioning. We are looking forward to the successful expansion as well as to a fruitful cooperation with our colleagues from Vorarlberg.

The last item on the agenda was once again the joint dinner, where the focus was on socializing, personal exchange and individual networking with colleagues from other locations.

We would like to thank our colleagues for their numerous attendance, the lively discussions and also the Hotel Radisson BLU Airport for the pleasant stay.

SwissLegal – There for you.
